Maintenance Fitter Location: Avonmouth (with support to Teignmouth Terminal as required) Full-time | Permanent £42,500 - £45,000 Plus productivity bonus, plus overtime We are looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Fitter to join our team, providing mechanical maintenance support across our Avonmouth and Teignmouth terminals. This role is essential in ensuring our equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently, supporting both planned maintenance and day‑to‑day operational activities. About the Role As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical maintenance across all site activities. You will complete planned and preventative maintenance in line with schedules, carry out daily inspections, identify and rectify faults, and support the reliability and performance of our plant and equipment. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical ability, a commitment to safe working practices, and a flexible approach to providing operational support when required. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operational Support Carry out mechanical maintenance duties across both Avonmouth and Teignmouth terminals. Complete planned and preventative maintenance in accordance with schedules and procedures. Conduct daily inspections, fault identification, reporting and rectification. Assist with operational duties including plant sampling and cleaning. Unload cement trains or cement/GGBS vessels when required. Provide holiday and sickness cover for plant operators and deputise for weighbridge staff when covering shifts. Safety, Compliance & Documentation Work in line with Heidelberg Materials' Sustainability and Health & Safety policies. Maintain clean and safe working environments at all times. Record accidents, near hits and incidents promptly and accurately. Ensure risk assessments, method statements and daily Take One assessments are completed before work begins. Follow correct isolation and lock‑off procedures. Ensure all maintenance carried out is recorded accurately for future reference. Out-of-hours Responsibilities Provide out-of-hours breakdown cover when requested by the management team. Authorised to shut down processes when there is a risk to people, the environment or the plant. What We're Looking For Experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar maintenance role. Strong mechanical skills with the ability to diagnose and repair faults. Proactive approach to health, safety and housekeeping. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider operational team.
