Overview
Lead Caretaker role at Prospere Learning Trust, based at Pioneer House High School. This is a Grade 5, permanent post working 35 hours per week, all year round. The starting salary is £29,064 with a start date to be confirmed after pre-employment checks.
Responsibilities
* Manage other estates staff including allocation and monitoring of work and performance appraisal, and supervision of external contractors on site.
* Be a responsible key holder and manage maintenance, security and facilities systems on site including alarm systems, CCTV and surveillance systems.
* Deliver hands-on operational caretaking to maintain the cleanliness and physical appearance of the site inside and out, including maintenance of specialist facilities and equipment following appropriate training where applicable.
* Support the day-to-day operation of estates repairs and maintenance issues desk and associated system.
* Full line management of estates and site staff including recruitment, probationary period management, performance management, absence management and staff development.
Main Purpose Of The Job
Support the Site Manager by taking responsibility for the management of the school site and associated facilities under an agreed system of supervision, and development of specialist facilities services within the school. Ensure the premises operate to a high standard of health and safety and that all relevant regulations are implemented and adhered to at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
* Significant experience in a relevant discipline (e.g., senior caretaking/site keeping) in a school or similar environment.
* Knowledge of health and safety and hygiene procedures and precautions.
Standards and Compliance
* Ensure in-house testing/checks are undertaken and recorded in line with Trust processes, including fire bells tests and checks of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and fire doors.
* Ensure general maintenance and repairs are completed swiftly, safely and in line with expectations of senior staff; address safety hazards/unsafe practices on site.
* Oversee regular grounds maintenance and cleaning duties and ensure safe access during severe weather.
