Location: Birkenhead Contract: Temporary Assignment Overview We are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join a local government finance team based in Birkenhead. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid financial reporting and monitoring experience to contribute to a key public service, while gaining valuable exposure in a well-established finance environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports Monitor and maintain financial performance alongside non-finance colleagues Analyse data and provide insights to support decision-making Assist with year-end financial processes and compliance activities Ensure financial controls are upheld and support system/process improvements Work collaboratively across the team to deliver timely, accurate financial information Requirements Essential: Part-qualified (AAT or similar) or equivalent financial experience Solid understanding of accounting principles and budgetary control Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems Effective communicator with the ability to support non-financial stakeholders Proven experience in a financial monitoring/reporting role Desirable: Previous experience in local government finance How to Apply: Please send your CV and contact details to apply.
