An opportunity has arisen for an assistant to join our pharmacy procurement team responsible for purchasing medicines for the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The procurement team manages the ordering of over £20 million worth of medicines annually. We seek a candidate with strong skills and attention to detail, who is a good team player, hardworking, and enthusiastic about supporting our services.
The role requires a good understanding of IT systems, as most ordering is electronic. You will need to update Excel spreadsheets and interact competently with other Microsoft applications. Responsibilities include daily medicine ordering, liaising with wholesalers and suppliers to ensure availability for clinical teams, processing invoices, and chasing out-of-stock medicines.

Key responsibilities include:
1. Placing routine and ad-hoc pharmacy orders according to the defined schedule.
2. Processing invoices within agreed timescales and investigating deviations from predicted purchase prices.
3. Following up on overdue orders by liaising with manufacturers and suppliers under the guidance of the Pharmacy Procurement Manager.
4. Maintaining records of medicine shortages.
5. Participating in stock-taking activities in the pharmacy store.
6. Handling enquiries from wards and departments, liaising with the Pharmacy Procurement Office Manager and Principal Technician.
7. Advising pharmacy staff on medicines procurement and availability matters.
8. Performing general clerical duties, including managing post, filing, phone calls, photocopying, and document management.
