The role
We are working closely with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of an Emergency Management Officer , on a 12 -months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay : £18.35- £24.06 per hour Summary: Cardiff Council is seeking a proactive and resilient Emergency Management Officer to support the development and delivery of the Council's emergency preparedness, response, and recovery arrangements. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act and other statutory obligations by developing emergency plans, coordinating training and exercises, strengthening business continuity arrangements, and supporting multi-agency responses to incidents. Responsibilities : Deliver work programmes to ensure compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act and other relevant statutory requirements. Lead designated specialist work streams, with responsibilities allocated by the Principal Emergency Management Officer. Organise and participate in emergency exercises to test plans and identify opportunities for improvement. Provide support to the Council's response to emergencies and incidents during and outside normal office hours. Qualifications: Educated to degree level standard or able to demonstrate equivalent work-related attainment. Essentials: Good understanding of local and regional government structures and systems. Understanding of the Civil Contingencies Act and other relevant statutory legislation. Experience developing plans, policies, procedures, or operational guidance.
