I'm currently working with a highly regarded, design-led engineering consultancy in London that is looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join their growing MEP team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 3-5 years' experience who is technically strong, design-focused, and motivated to progress toward a Senior Engineer position in the near future.
The Practice
This is a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy of approximately 70 staff, with around 20 engineers in the MEP team. They are known for delivering beautifully considered, technically robust solutions across a diverse portfolio of complex and high-profile projects.
The business has sustainability embedded at its core - not as an add-on, but as a fundamental driver of design thinking. Engineers here are encouraged to challenge convention, think holistically, and engage with performance-led design from concept through delivery.
Project Sectors
You will gain exposure to a broad range of sectors, including:
* Airports
* Museums
* Visual and Performing Arts buildings
* Education (primary through higher education)
* Industrial facilities
The variety of work provides excellent technical breadth and long-term development potential.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
* Deliver mechanical building services design from concept to detailed stage
* Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment
* Contribute to sustainable and low-energy design strategies
* Take ownership of packages and liaise directly with clients and design teams
* Be supported toward progression into a Senior-level position
This role offers real responsibility, not just production work.
What They're Looking For
* 3-5 years' experience in building services mechanical design
* Strong technical capability across HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation systems
* Experience working across multiple sectors (highly desirable)
* Exposure to energy strategies and energy modelling
* A genuine interest in sustainable, low-carbon design
* Ambition to progress and take on greater responsibility
Salary & Location
* Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
