Overview
A full-time Band 3 Support Time and Recovery Worker to join the Acute Therapy Service (ATS) based at Bridge House in Blackburn. The service provides a psychologically led approach that offers an alternative to inpatient admissions and supports early discharge from inpatient units.
Responsibilities
* Direct involvement with service users; help to provide and facilitate a therapeutic responsive service for adults with mental health difficulties. Support service users to implement coping strategies learned in the ATS service. Co-facilitate and deliver groups.
* Assist in the provision of a DBT-led therapeutic environment that facilitates early discharge from an acute psychiatric ward or provides an alternative to hospital admission.
* Work creatively within the team to meet the demands and needs of the service and service users.
* Work without direct supervision on completion of initial induction; receive management and clinical supervision; develop clinical and professional practice in line with service user needs and organisational values.
* Facilitate and maintain effective liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies in the community and other appropriate agencies involved in service users’ care; maintain effective communication within and outside the clinical team; support service users to maximise involvement and understanding of their condition, care and treatment; participate in clinical and managerial supervision; provide verbal and written feedback to colleagues; ensure changes to the unit environment, including accidents, incidents and complaints, are reported according to trust policy.
Requirements / Qualifications
* NVQ 3 or equivalent experience; Certificate in Mental Health; European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of mental health issues and evidence-based practice; ability to influence and inspire innovative and effective practice; ability to work with developed specialist rehabilitation plans; ability to assess and manage risk and promote positive risk taking.
* Experience in individual and group work in mental health; ability to work as part of a team; knowledge of the cultures and religions of the communities; commitment to valuing diversity and working across cultures; ability to form positive therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
* Desirable: experience of working with people with complex mental health and social care needs.
* Essential: commitment to client-centred, non-discriminatory practice.
