Abatec is recruiting for a freelance Quality Engineer to join one of South West's biggest Civil Engineering projects. This is an opportunity to join an award-winning tier-one contractor that has secured an exciting, challenging, and ongoing project in Plymouth, Devon.
Responsibilities
* Support the implementation and maintenance of the project Quality Management System
* Prepare, review and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), including subcontractor documentation
* Carry out internal audits in line with the project audit schedule and ensure close‑out of findings
* Assist site teams with quality compliance, ensuring works meet project specifications and standards
* Monitor and track material approvals, ensuring certification and compliance requirements are met
* Review Lifetime Quality Records and support the timely delivery of handover documentation
* Identify, record and track non‑conformances (NCRs), supporting investigations and close‑out
Qualifications
* Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related discipline
* CSCS Card (White PQP/AQP preferred)
* Experience of working in a similar position for a civils contractor
* An understanding of construction drawings
Additional Information
* Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS and SC security clearance will be required (this process can take several weeks)
* Candidates must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years and hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country
Salary and benefits
* £400 - £450 p/day PAYE Umbrella
