Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Carer to provide high-quality support to individuals in a care home. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those in their care, demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives vulnerable individuals requiring assistance with daily activities and specialised care needs.
This job is to cover maternity leave initially but there may be an opportunity to remain permanently as other shifts become available. Ideally the applicant would be available to cover some sickness and holiday leave as well as the 20 hours available each week.
The set hours are 9pm - 7am two days a week. Days to be discussed.
Duties
* Assist with personal care routines such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
* Support patients with meal preparation and feeding as required
* Monitor health status and report any changes to healthcare professionals or family members
* Engage residents in social activities and behavioural management to promote mental well-being
* Handle heavy lifting tasks safely during transfers or mobility assistance
Skills
* Prior experience in a home care is highly desirable
* Knowledge of patient care techniques including medication administration and first aid
* Strong caregiving skills with an emphasis on compassion and patience
* Ability to manage behaviour effectively and provide emotional support
* Good organisational skills for maintaining accurate documentation
* Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
