* We have a vacancy for a full timeRevenues Inspection Officer. This is an exciting opportunity toactively improve the Council income through collection ofCouncil Tax. We are looking for a motivated individual who iskeen to be part of a team who work hard to achieve ambitioustargets.
* Each year the Council collect millionsof pounds of Council Tax which all contributes towardsdelivering essential services for our customers. The team isbusy and dynamic, and you can expect to handle customercontact, carry out back-office work and be part of projects andtrials to improve processes.
* The Revenues Inspection Officer will beresponsible for carrying out effective and efficientinspections of dwellings for Council Tax liabilities. Thesuccessful candidate will require an excellent knowledge andunderstanding of Council Tax legislation and be able toeffectively review liabilities on a rolling basis to ensure anynew or altered dwellings are being accurately recorded.
* We aim to provide the best possibleservice for all our customers therefore commitment to customerexcellence is vital in this role.
Duties of the role
* To undertake property inspections andreviews of Council Tax, making key decisions on liabilities tomaximise income for the Council.
* You will be required to work in theCouncil's Civic offices and Colchester properties
Qualifications andskills required
We expect you to have:
* Be educated to a A 'level' standard orhave the equivalent in experience.
* A high-level knowledge and/or relevantproven experience in Council Tax
* Excellent geographical knowledge ofColchester and surrounding areas
* Understanding of data protection and itsimportance
* Full UK Driver License is essential forthis role
We also hope you have:
* Experience of working directly withcustomers
* Excellent customer and communicationskills
* The ability to deliver against personaland team targets
* IRRV qualification or the willingness tocomplete the qualification
