Overview
Legal Inventory Project Management & Controls Lead (AVP) – Barclays, Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. This role focuses on enhancing legal risk management and governance. You’ll help ensure legal risk is treated as a principal risk and support the adequacy review of legal controls across the firm, checking procedures and standards and operating controls. This is a full-time permanent position based in Glasgow.
Responsibilities
* Knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to be able to assess risk.
* Collaborate with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
* Identify and investigate potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by severity.
* Develop reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
* Execute reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to policies, regulation, and best practice.
* Ensure adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and apply appropriate methodology for assessing controls against the Controls Framework.
* Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development, and collaborate with other functions/business divisions to strengthen operational effectiveness.
* Lead a team or collaborate on complex tasks, setting objectives and coaching to achieve them; for individual contributors, guide teams through structured assignments and identify opportunities to involve other specialisations.
* Consult on complex issues and provide guidance to People Leaders to resolve escalated issues.
* Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
* Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls related to the work performed.
* Engage in complex data analysis from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively; communicate complex information clearly, including sensitive content.
* Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
Qualifications / Skills
* Risk & Controls background and knowledge of controls framework.
* Drafting skills within a legal capacity or policies and standards/procedures.
* Experience in stakeholder management and communication.
* Attention to detail and clear written communication.
* Ability to assess risk across business areas, products, processes and platforms.
