Responsibilities:
1. Must be courteous to patients, visitors, and employees.
2. Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of patient's impairment and the prognosis for improvement. Identifies pertinent patient problems. (20%)
3. Sets objective, measurable treatment goals incorporating patient's goal for functional outcome. Establishes a treatment plan based on patient needs and patient family input. (20%)
4. Performs treatment procedures and adapts techniques to meet the needs of patients. Reevaluates patients, modifies treatment plan and procedures based on patient progress. (20%)
5. Provides objective, analytic documentation of patient care, patient/family education, and information regarding units of service. Communicates effectively with medical/allied health personnel regarding patient progress, needs, and discharge planning. (15%)
6. Participates in quality improvement, program evaluation, environmental and infection control programs. (5%)
7. Trains new personnel as required, assists the Manager with on-the-job training.
8. Provides guidance and direction to PTAs, aides, and affiliating students.
9. Enhances professional growth through educational programs, literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
10. Attends meetings as required. (5%)
11. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. (5%)
Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in Speech Pathology.
* Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA.
* Licensed in Massachusetts.
* 1-2 years experience with swallowing disorders preferred.
* Current CPR certification.
* Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Additional Skills:
* Mathematical and computer skills including basic computer skills and applying mathematical concepts.
* Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to practical problems.
Position Purpose:
This role involves providing diagnostic and treatment services for speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across various age groups, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Schedule & Organization:
Per Diem hours, rotating days, weekends, and holidays. Located at Falmouth Hospital, Massachusetts, within the FHA-Speech Therapy department.
