We are looking to onboard a Senior Business Analyst to work within the Finance Model Risk Management Programme at a large UK bank on a contract basis. The role will be London based and hybrid (expectation minimum 1-2 days per week on-site).
This is an initial 6 month contract, with potential for extension to support the transition of the vision in to the technical infrastructure.
Background and Role
In May 2025, the PRAs Supervisory Statement SS1/23 came into effect, raising expectations on banks to strengthen governance, oversight, and control of model risk. The banks Finance & Treasury functions have assessed their existing model risk practices and identified areas for improvement.
To address these, a six-month improvement programme has been mobilised with three key initiatives:
Model Implementation building a proof-of-concept (POC) model execution framework on AWS.
Model Monitoring developing a POC monitoring framework to standardise oversight and performance testing.
Model Documentation defining gold standard documentation templates across the Finance model lifecycle.
These initiatives will act as foundational pillars for achieving a compliance plus assessment against PRA SS1/23. They are business-led by Finance & Treasury with support from Technology, and supplemented with specialist external resources.
We are looking to onboard a Senior Business Analyst to support the technical build of a Proof of Concept (POC) Model Monitoring framework, definining a template/best practice for onboarding models and demonstrating monitoring of models representative of the Finance & Treasury model suite.
Key Desired outcomes are:
Standardised, and validated approach for implementing models
Technology framework is naturally embedded in the execution framework
Monitoring framework embedded
Scalability, potential to deploy DQMs into the same solution
Technology shared with 2 nd line to support validation
Simplification of development process and technical landscape
The POC should deliver a solution that is compliant with the following:
Regulation - SS1/23 principles
Internal Policies - Model Development and Use Risk Tool Kit; Ongoing Performance Monitoring Risk Tool Kit
The Senior Business Analyst will be working alongside AWS Python Engineers and an AWS Python Solution Architect to build a proof of concept (POC) model monitoring framework on AWS using coud native technologies and Docker containers (all coding will be conducted in Python).
The Senior Business Analyst must have extensive experience in banking systems, solutions and infrastructure and a working understanding of design authorities and processes. Ideally they will have a hybrid skillset that can encompass Business Analysis, modelling SME, Product Owner and some PM skills.
Key Experience Required:
Deep understanding of model risk and model lifecycle
Need to have AWS knowledge e.g. understanding of the pitfalls of the technology
Experience with model execution platforms
Ability to act as Product Owner, Business Analyst, and Project Manager
Familiarity with Finance & Treasury models
Knowledge of PRA SS1/23, BCBS239 and internal governance standards
Experience with adjacent object design databases like GraphQL is a plus
Experience working with technical teams (Python/AWS)
Prior exposure to systems and design authorities in similar banking institutions (preferred)
