Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Science Technician to join our team, working across all three Science specialisms, starting asap.

The role involves supporting the delivery of the curriculum within lessons, assisting in the maintenance and preparation of classrooms, apparatus, and materials for staff and students, with a focus on safe, effective, and efficient teaching and learning.

The ideal candidate will have a Science qualification to at least A-level or equivalent, with technician or laboratory experience desirable. They should possess the technical competence for preparing and ordering materials and maintaining machines and equipment. Previous experience working with children, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

The Science department operates smoothly, with students achieving well across Key stages 3 to 5. Our core purpose is to fully engage students and ignite their curiosity and determination to reach their full potential. Staff benefit from a positive working environment, strong professional development support, and access to three specialist laboratories within a well-equipped science area of 11 laboratories. Our department comprises ten staff members.

We are currently undergoing transformational change, benefitting from a multi-million-pound investment in Tunbridge Wells and a new building at our Sevenoaks campus, opened in September 2021. By September 2025, Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys will be one of the largest boys' grammar schools in the country. Our shared vision is: 'To be the best selective boys’ school in West Kent,' and we are excited about our ongoing journey.

We offer the opportunity to work with highly capable young people in a supportive, well-equipped, and forward-thinking school. Our friendly and inclusive environment fosters collaboration within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering personalized education and care.

You will benefit from a positive working environment, professional development opportunities, and access to specialist teaching rooms. We aim for high standards and academic excellence, helping students reach their full potential through developing skills, concepts, and knowledge within a caring community built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared determination to succeed.

Please note that applications must include a CV accompanied by an application form available on our website under Vacancies. We review applications as received, so early application is encouraged. The vacancy may close early if sufficient applications are received.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required, and applicants will need to complete safeguarding and Prevent training, as well as sign Staff and Governors’ codes of conduct.
