Cleaner Grade 1 £24,796 pro rata Temporary - Required from 2nd September 2025 until 15th August 2026 Part time, whole time, 11.12 hours per week The Governors of this popular primary school seek to appoint a Cleaner who is wholly committed to becoming an integral member of our hard-working and dedicated team. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate skills in the following areas: Cleaning designated areas of the school in accordance with the school’s specifications, and to ensure these are kept in a clean and hygienic condition on a daily, weekly, monthly basis as instructed by the Caretaker. These areas may be changed, depending on the needs of the school. 1. To ensure all waste bins are emptied and refuse is removed and taken to the designated disposal point to ensure the site is clean and tidy and meets with health and safety requirements. 2. To clean all furniture and fittings including ledges, pipe work and radiators ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are met and maintained. 3. To clean all sanitary fixtures and fittings including the lavatories, wash room facilities and showers etc., ensuring all areas are maintained to the required standards of health and safety, reporting any damaged or broken facilities, or other maintenance issues to the Caretaker. 4. Carry out vacuuming in all carpeted areas ensuring correct use, carrying and storage of equipment. 5. Clean all other floor areas appropriately i.e. sweeping, mopping, polishing etc., ensuring wet floor H&S hazard signs are used when required to ensure wellbeing of staff/pupils is maintained. 6. To use floor scrubbing machines when required, following correct operating procedures to ensure personal and others safety and wellbeing. 7. To assist in the whole school clean during school closure as per the school cleaning programme. 8. To check windows and doors are free from damage and closed after cleaning has been carried out to ensure the facilities are locked and secured appropriately. 9. To assist Caretaker moving furniture/items to enable cleaning. 10. To attend any training courses relevant to the post, ensuring continual personal and professional development (including Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Safeguarding training & updates). 11. Maintain accident records as required. 12. To follow Health and Safety codes and Health and Hygiene code of practices in relation to cleaning, e.g. C.O.S.H.H, siting of warning cones, etc. 13. To report faulty equipment to the Caretaker as necessary. 14. Any other cleaning duties as directed by the Head Teacher. 15. The post holder has common duties and responsibilities in the areas of: Quality Assurance, Communication, Professional Practice, Health & Safety, General Management (where applicable), Financial Management (where applicable), Appraisal, Equality & Diversity, Confidentiality and Induction The working pattern is 3.30pm-5.45pm Mon – Thurs, 2.30pm-4.42pm Friday The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
