About the role
We’re looking for a Junior Kitchen Manager to join the Butlin’s Buffets Department based in Skegness. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, you will support the running of the kitchen and lead a large team of chefs. You will step up in the Kitchen Manager’s absence, be passionate about exceptional experience and monitor service quality regularly to develop action plans with a focus on continuous improvement. You will provide daily briefings, handle stock control, review food presentation, deliver food‑cost budgets through effective menu planning and cooking to standards and specifications, and maintain food hygiene and health & safety standards in line with legislation and company policies. You will act as a role model for the Butlin’s unique way of working, ensuring training schedules and performance development plans are in place for your team, and inspiring them to deliver a great experience to guests in our main buffet restaurant serving guests who have booked a half‑board dining package.
Junior Kitchen Manager Key Responsibilities
* Support the running of the kitchen and lead a large team of chefs.
* Step up in the Kitchen Manager’s absence.
* Monitor service quality, develop action plans and focus on continuous improvement.
* Provide daily briefings, handle stock control and review food presentation.
* Deliver food‑cost budgets through effective menu planning, cooking to standards and specifications.
* Accountable for food hygiene standards and health & safety in line with legislation and company policies.
* Serve as a role model for the Butlin’s unique way of working, ensuring training schedules and performance development plans are in place.
* Lead and develop the skills of a team in the main buffet restaurant.
Cleaning Team Key Responsibilities
* Maintain cleanliness of main venues and toilets, using electrical and mechanical cleaning equipment (full training will be given).
* Handle chemicals used in cleaning (full training will be given).
* Conduct external road cleaning including emptying general waste and recycling bins.
* Move furniture to allow for different activities within venues.
* Clean and disinfect toilets and changing rooms.
* Perform evening shift duties – 5 pm to 2 am (start and finish times may vary depending on break type).
Qualifications
You must have passed your Level 3 Food Safety qualification and be confident in leading a team to consistently deliver high standards in a fast‑paced and busy kitchen environment. As with any chef role at this level, you will be responsible for managing margins, controlling costs, and all aspects of health, safety and hygiene.
Working Hours & Conditions
This role covers a 5‑day working week over 7 days covering 40 hours, including evenings and weekends. This role does not come with onsite accommodation. Applicants must be over 18 years old.
