Job Title: SEN Support Assistant – Secondary & Post-16 (L17 Area) Location: Liverpool, L17 Salary: £85–£100 per day (dependent on experience) Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only Start Date: Immediate
About the Role: Milk Education is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Support Assistant to join a dynamic team in a specialist provision based in Liverpool (L17). This rewarding role involves supporting young people aged 10–18 with a range of additional needs, including those in care, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and complex trauma backgrounds.
You’ll be working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams to create a safe, nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning and emotional needs
2. Assist with behaviour regulation and de-escalation strategies
3. Build trusting relationships with pupils, many of whom have experienced significant adversity
4. Support classroom activities and contribute to EHCP targets
5. Promote independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
What We’re Looking For:
6. Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally within care or alternative provision settings
7. Strong communication and empathy skills
8. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging behaviour constructively
9. A genuine passion for inclusive education and safeguarding
10. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
