Overview
To work in one of the dedicated pool porter posts in the porters’ roster, providing a comprehensive hospital portering service. This role will require the applicant to work with adults and children within an NHS Hospital. Every shift the applicant works will include regular contact with adults and children and/or working within a close proximity of vulnerable adults and children. The child patients will be under the age of 16 years old.
Responsibilities
* Move patients by bed, trolley and wheelchair as directed by department staff in accordance with agreed procedures. Move case request forms, specimens, medicines, equipment, furniture and other items between wards and departments in line with agreed procedures.
* Transport adult and child patients within the hospital and at times be alone with the patient.
* Collect confidential information as well as specimens, medical equipment, blood products and at times drive the MFT trust vehicles. A full UK driving licence is a must for the role.
* Respond to non-scheduled task instructions from the Helpdesk via the handheld device. Ensure non-scheduled task response and completion times are recorded on the handheld device. Report any issues with or delays to the task so that a full audit trail is maintained.

Qualifications & Requirements
* Full UK driving licence is a must for the role.
* Ability to work with adults and children within an NHS Hospital environment, including close proximity to vulnerable individuals.
* Willingness to work as part of the portering team and follow agreed procedures for patient movement and handling.
