Role Overview
As the SMT Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the SMT Engineering team, consisting of New Model Introduction, Industrial Engineering (IE) & SMT Programming. The role works closely with other departments through the full product life cycle, from concept & quote, through to mass production & quality control. The successful candidate will have experience & capability of leading a team, proven problem-solving skills, and a quality & customer focus to provide continuous improvement & consistent results.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership for the SMT Engineering Team.
* Mentor and develop team members, both technically and professionally.
* Champion engineering quality, collaborating closely with the SMT Quality Manager to uphold and enhance standards.
* Drive performance through KPIs, specifically focusing on quality, delivery and cost efficiency.
* Implement and improve processes, ensuring robust tracking and continuous enhancement of engineering workflows.
* Lead Problem solving initiatives.
Qualifications
* Qualified to minimum HNC level, in an engineering discipline.
* Electrical Engineering & Mechanical Engineering experience.
* Understanding of Product Development Process & Continuous Improvement Tools (Lean / Six Sigma tools).
* Able to understand engineering documentation.
* An understanding of the SMT process, equipment and technology.
* Good aptitude for complex and technical operations.
* Commercial awareness to support business decisions and priorities.
* Experience leading diverse teams and encouraging an inclusive workplace.
* Strong stakeholder management and cross-departmental collaboration skills.
* A willingness to develop own knowledge and skills.
