SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary (Autism Support)

Aspire People are recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within a secondary setting in B12, starting April 2026.
This role will involve working closely with a student with Autism who is non-verbal and may display perceived challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will provide consistent, patient and supportive 1:1 assistance to help the student access learning and feel secure within the school environment.
Key responsibilities:
* Providing **1:1 support** for a student with Autism in a secondary school setting
* Supporting a **non-verbal student** using appropriate communication strategies
* Helping to manage and respond calmly to **perceived challenging behaviour**
* Supporting engagement with learning and daily school routines
* Working closely with teaching staff and the SEN team
The ideal candidate will:
* Have experience supporting students with **Autism and additional needs
* Be calm, patient and resilient
* Have experience supporting non-verbal communication (PECS, visual supports or similar is desirable.
* Be confident working with students who may present behavioural challenges
* Be committed to inclusive education and student wellbeing
