Overview

Wolverhampton Talking Therapies offers interventions for Depression and anxiety disorders. We are currently looking to appoint a Duty Coordinator to provide support and guidance to the clinical and admin team. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, with the ability to work well under pressure. You must be a team player, able to cope with conflicting demands, and able to work with initiative, problem solving, professionalism and flexibility. You must possess excellent attention to detail, have a working knowledge of GDPR and confidentiality, and the confidence to work efficiently and competently. Main duties of the job

* Accept referrals into the service and assess suitability of referrals, establishing a pathway for referrers and patients.
* Act as a point of contact for external professionals and service users seeking help or advice.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of the service and meet performance standards for output and clinical outcomes.
* Support staff to work with IAPT-appropriate cases; the post is not expected to carry a caseload of clients.
* Support staff queries regarding triage, treatment and access to secondary care if required.
* Triaging referrals entering the service via the Talking Therapies self-referral portal or from other professionals.
* Support the admin team with client/Duty queries.
* Work as a referral coordinator within Talking Therapies, as the first point of contact for patients presenting with mental health problems.
* Manage triage referrals and make clinical decisions about appropriate services.
* Recognise signs of abuse or safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action, following statutory and local procedures.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Professional qualification (RMN, OT, CBT, Psychology) or equivalent relevant experience.
* Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in delivery of mental health interventions.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Counsellor level 5 (desirable).


Experience

* Essential: Working within a multi-disciplinary team; working in a mental health team and assessing risk; partnership working across agencies; triaging referrals and making clinical decisions about appropriate services.
* Desirable: Supporting staff in the day-to-day provision of clinical services; collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.


Knowledge

* Knowledge of assessment applicable to a range of mental health needs; ability to assess risk and identify opportunities for risk mitigation.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and actions if someone is at risk; knowledge of equal opportunities legislation and policies.
* Knowledge of latest evidence-based practice and NICE guidance for supporting individuals with mental health needs.


Skills

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict management.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to maintain accurate, contemporaneous records.
