I am a lady in my 30s living in a rural area of Pontardawe. I am a wheelchair user and have epilepsy, experiencing daily seizures. I am a classically trained singer, love music, nature, photography, art, attending choirs and social groups, and help run a social group. I am a Welsh speaker.
Purpose
Helping me to access the community, taking me to and from activities I enjoy, supporting me to attend appointments and helping me find new things to do.
Responsibilities
* Lift the wheelchair in and out of the vehicle and push it over long distances when required (manual handling training available).
* Support with seizures (training to be given).
* Cover annual leave occasionally.
* Support may be required with freshening up and dressing on rare occasions.
* Perform any other relevant duties.
Qualifications
* Car driver essential.
* Experience with epilepsy preferred but training available.
* Chatty, talkative and understanding.
* Proactive and able to motivate.
* Punctual, reliable and trustworthy.
* Supportive and patient.
* Vigilant and confident under pressure.
* Treat me with dignity and respect.
* Welsh speaker desirable.
Hours
This role may require a DBS check (cost covered by NPTCBC). If the role involves working with children, a DBS check will be compulsory before commencement.
Employment Conditions
* Trial period of 1 month, probationary period up to 6 months.
* Must provide two satisfactory references upon request.
* Wages paid on a 4‑weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance number is provided.
* Eligibility to work in the UK and subject to document checks before commencement.
* Annual leave entitlement and all statutory entitlements will be outlined in the contract.
* Personal Assistants Handbook will be issued upon commencement.
* Mandatory training will be identified and must be undertaken; failure to attend may result in offer withdrawal.
