Job Description
As a Shift Controller for IPS, you will be responsible for the management of production lines and labour to meet planned volume and commercial targets in accordance with QA and safety standards. To be a role model for best practice at all times, and provide support to Line Leaders where appropriate:
Rotational shifts: 6am-2pm; 2pm-10pm; 10pm-6am.
Key Duties:
1. To effectively motivate a team of people to meet production targets
2. Ensure the final product meets client specifications (SPI)
3. To effectively maximise production efficiency to ensure plan is met on an hourly/daily basis
4. Effectively use the integrated management systems
5. To adhere to and promote best practice in accordance with company health, safety and quality regulations
6. To ensure all paperwork and systems are completed and accurate in accordance with company procedures
7. To ensure that all areas comply with hygienic audits, both internal and external
8. To ensure GMP (good manufacturing practices) and housekeeping (clean as you go) are strictly adhered to
9. Assist in the development of a skills matrix for all production workers
10. To attend Line leader meetings, and relevant training courses, as and when required
11. To assist in the identification and development of Line Leaders to promote success planning
12. To assist in the training and development of new starters
13. To act as a role model for best practice
14. Monitor, control and minimise waste
15. Play an active part in continuous improvement
16. To conduct RTW’s for line workers
17. To participate in the company’s PDP program
18. To conduct disciplinary investigations in accordance with company procedure
19. To act as specialist for machinery knowledge
20. Drive own personal development through training and work based experience
21. Manage the output of assigned production and effectively deal with issues as and when they arise
22. Cover for the Area Manager in his/her absence
23. Liaise with customers and clients as and when required
24. Must be prepared to cover a variety of shifts to represent the management team
25. To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time, that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post
Qualifications
26. Experience of working in a customer-led environment with changing priorities
27. Experience of manufacturing machinery and processes
28. H&S L2 Qualification
29. NVQ L2 in Team Leading of Packing Operations
30. Ability to communicate in a positive and clear manner
31. Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work to strict deadlines
32. Recognises and promotes the importance of continuous improvement
33. Able to work towards targets
