Our client is a successful, well-established civil and structural design practice operating from a friendly office in the North West. They are actively seeking an AD level Structural Engineer to lead and manage the team working on residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use development projects.
In order to be considered for this Associate Director of Structures role, you will:
* Hold a minimum 2:1 BSc/BEng in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
* Have at least 10 years post-qualification experience in civil and structural engineering
* Possess a full UK driving license and own transport
* Be Chartered (MICE or MIStructE)
Key responsibilities include:
* Applying detailed knowledge of structural design and detailing using relevant UK and European codes of practice
* Producing preliminary design solutions and reviewing them with clients as part of the design strategy
* Developing detailed designs, calculations, specifications, and conducting technical reviews
* Attending design, project progress, and client engagement meetings
* Liaising with contractors, clients, third-party organizations, and stakeholders, addressing queries related to technical detailing
* Designing in all forms of construction including steelwork, reinforced/precast concrete, masonry, and timber
* Conducting structural appraisals of commercial, industrial, and residential structures
* Managing project costs and schedules
* Overseeing sustainability criteria
* Ensuring compliance with designers' duties under the CDM Regulations
* Producing sketches, drawings, and structural appraisal reports
* Supervising CAD/Revit technicians and junior engineers on technical/construction details and QA reviews
* Engaging in selling, marketing, and business development activities to retain existing clients and identify new leads
