Lead Nurse Neonatal Home Care and Family Care

Lead Nurse for Neonatal Home Care and Family Care at ZeroAge (Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust).


Job Summary

We are recruiting a talented, enthusiastic and motivated nurse to join our neonatal senior nursing team. The role will oversee neonatal Home Care, family support, bereavement support, Low Dependency and discharge.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide responsive, compassionate, inclusive leadership and management to promote the highest standards of clinical care, patient safety and experience.
* Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control, and monitor cleanliness of the environment.
* Oversee workforce management, finance and budgeting for the neonatal units.
* Ensure the highest quality education and development of nursing staff within the neonatal units.
* Act as a resource, providing advice on professional nursing issues in relation to clinical interventions, policies and protocols, service delivery and service development.
* Ensure appropriate resources are in place to support the delivery of high‑quality services within the areas of responsibility.


Person Specification

* Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's "We are here for you" behavioural standards.
* First degree or equivalent in a health‑related subject.
* Management qualification or relevant experience.
* Current level 1 NMC registration.
* Neonatal qualification in specialty course.
* Newborn life support provider.


Experience

* Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an acute NHS setting.
* Post‑registration experience including management and leadership.
* Knowledge of budgets/financial control.
* Leadership experience of working within a level 3 neonatal unit.


Communication/Relationship Skills

* Excellent written and oral communication.
* Ability to build successful teams.
* Ability to influence and motivate staff to deliver challenging targets.
* Strong leadership qualities.


Analytical/Judgement Skills

* Influencing and negotiation.
* Service development and service improvement.
* Ability to interpret and manage a budget and resources.
* Ability to interpret trends from data and establish routes of progression.
* IT skills to manage and report on complex performance management information.
* Involvement in clinical audits and the development of action plans.


Planning and Organisational Skills

* Ability to organise and prioritise own and others' workload.
* Ability to deliver project outputs to tight deadlines.
* Can formulate short and long‑term objectives.
* Experience of working under own initiative and within a team.
* Understanding of pro‑active performance management within a large clinical area.


Physical Skills

* Able to fulfil occupational health requirements.
* Extensive driving across the region.
* Able to undertake clinical duties and deliver core and enhanced clinical skills.
* Updated in manual handling.
* Able to transfer relevant teaching aids and materials as necessary for the delivery of educational programmes.


Benefits and Salary

Band 8a. Salary £55,690 – £62,682 per year. Permanent contract. Full‑time. Working pattern: Full‑time. On‑call duties subject to role. Refer to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust website for further details.
