We are St Andrew’s a mental health charity with a clear purpose: to inspire hope for people living with complex mental health needs.
We are a 125 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprising eight units covering medium and low security for both men and women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.
Senior Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD)
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and evaluate person‑centred care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
* Maintain a safe, secure and therapeutic ward environment.
* Administer medication in line with professional guidelines.
* Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
* Manage risk effectively, including de‑escalation and safeguarding procedures.
* Build therapeutic relationships with patients to support recovery and rehabilitation.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
* Receive and provide clinical supervision.
* Support the service to deliver specific outcome measures.
* Complete required ward audits in line with the Clinical Governance strategy.
Requirements
* Registered Nurse qualification (RMN/RNLD) with a valid NMC registration.
* Experience in mental health or secure/forensic settings.
* Completion of preceptorship – up to 2 years post qualification.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging behaviours.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
