Job Title: HV Commissioning Engineer Sector: Energy Transition / Power Infrastructure
Location: UK-wide (site-based, project dependent)
Contract Type: Contract (12 months, Outside IR35) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery of major energy transition projects across the UK. The role will focus on the testing, commissioning and energisation of high-voltage electrical systems on projects including BESS, renewables, grid connections, substations and wider power infrastructure.
You will play a key role at the construction-to-commissioning interface, ensuring systems are delivered safely, compliantly and ready for operational handover.
Carry out HV commissioning activities in line with project specifications, standards and procedures
Support energisation, testing and validation of HV/MV equipment including switchgear, transformers, protection systems and substations
Prepare, review and execute commissioning procedures, test plans and method statements
Interface closely with construction, QA/QC, commissioning and client teams to ensure readiness for energisation
Support system handover, documentation sign-off and commissioning records
Identify and resolve commissioning issues, escalating risks or constraints where required
Participate in site walkdowns, punch-list close-out and commissioning readiness reviews
Proven experience as an HV xkybehq Commissioning Engineer on power or energy projects
Experience working on energy transition projects such as BESS, renewables, grid reinforcement or power generation
Solid understanding of commissioning, testing, energisation and handover processes
Familiarity with UK electrical safety rules, permits and isolation procedures
