MUST HAVE PREVIOUS PRACTICE NURSE EXPERIENCE
A position has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake the role of a part-time Practice Nurse to work alongside our current practice nurse. We are ideally looking for someone working between 20 to 25 hours. The ideal candidate should be registered with the NMC, have practice nurse experience, and provide certification of relevant training courses.
Main duties of the job
To offer a high standard of evidence-based care to patients, including health promotion, treatment, screening, and disease management. Specific clinical areas include:
* National immunisation and vaccination schedule
* Travel immunisations and vaccinations
* Essential hypertension/CKD/CHD
* Cervical smears
* Urinalysis
* Chronic disease management
* Home visits
About us
We are an established, friendly, and supportive GP Training Practice based in Rainhill, Merseyside. We have a patient list of around 9,000, with a team comprising 3 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, a Practice Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, and an experienced administrative and reception team. We use EMIS Web, Docman 10, and other clinical systems. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent care to our population.

Job description
This is not a comprehensive list but outlines minimum requirements:
* Provide general nursing care including assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation
* Administer nebulisers, spirometry, respiratory testing, cervical cytology, blood pressure, and other physiological measurements
* Develop and deliver nurse-led services including chronic disease management
* Initiate diagnosis and refer patients with suspected chronic diseases
* Manage care programs and maintain disease registers
* Undertake annual reviews and provide travel health advice
* Administer immunisations and vaccinations, ensure safe storage and stock levels
* Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop care plans
* Deliver care to specialist groups following protocols and guidelines
* Provide health screenings and refer to multidisciplinary teams
* Visit patients at home for nurse-led services
* Use medical equipment safely, be computer literate, and manage biological hazards
* Communicate effectively with patients and carers, maintain confidentiality
* Handle sensitive issues and act as patient advocate
* Provide emergency care and handle patient assessments in urgent situations
* Lead health and safety and infection control efforts
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
* Registered Nurse
* Qualified Cervical smear sample taker
* NMC registered
* Experience in primary care and chronic disease management
Desirable:
* Nurse prescriber
* EMIS knowledge
