What we need
Edit Assistants / QC & Mastering Ops to join our team working on-site at Channel 4’s in-house post-production facility in SW1P. Part of a small team, you will be responsible for assisting all stages of post, from ingest to delivery, including performing crucial checks as the last line of defence prior to programme transmission.
Candidates should ideally have three years’ experience in a post-production environment. Experience in QC and mastering work would be beneficial, but consideration will be given to those with experience in online edit assistance and a strong aptitude to learn.
What we need you to do
* Assist editors and other members of the post-production team with operational support.
* Troubleshoot editing queries from production and Picture Shop staff as appropriate.
* Download and upload media/files from various platforms (Media Shuttle, FTP, Aspera etc).
* Ingest (both file based and legacy formats such as tapes, DVDs etc), group multi-cams, and sync audio.
* Export and upload viewing files to a range of platforms.
* Export final files for broadcast including AVC INTRA 100 and AS11’s.
* Perform AQC checks to DPP standards, using Vidchecker software.
* Perform QC ‘eyeball’ reviews, using Iris software.
* Accurately input metadata.
* Deliver content to transmission.
* Deliver content via EVS IPD systems, including playing out live to air.
* Undertake ad hoc projects and administrative tasks that are relevant to the operation of the department.
What Experience we’re looking for
* Candidates should ideally have three years’ experience in an Avid based post-production environment, and be familiar with industry standard practices, workflows, kit and technology.
* Knowledge of EVS IPD systems is beneficial.
* Knowledge of Adobe suite is beneficial.
* The role will involve working closely with members of the production team, so great interpersonal skills are essential.
* It will also involve working as part of a small team, so candidates should be prepared to take ownership of their role and contribute to the growth and development of the department as appropriate. This includes being proactive in their learning and development and attend relevant training to ensure duties are performed efficiently.
Other important information
* Candidates should be open to learning new ways of working as regular training will be provided.
* 40 hrs per week (8 hours x 5 days, Monday to Friday).
* Shift Pattern – early shifts beginning at 08:00 and late shifts finishing at 22:00.
* Additional hours as and when appropriate during special events.
