As Technical Manager, you will lead technical compliance and support quality assurance and food safety teams across several UK-based manufacturing sites.
This is a pivotal role, ensuring the operation delivers safe, legal, and high-quality products while meeting customer and industry standards.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll be the driving force behind food safety and quality culture. You’ll oversee robust systems, manage audits, and ensure compliance with BRCGS, SQMS, Halal, and Kosher requirements.
With a strong focus on risk management and technical integrity, you’ll provide leadership, guidance, and direction to supplier assurance, compliance, and specification teams.
The role is primarily based in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, but with travel to other sites around the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire area.
Key Responsibilities
Champion food safety and quality across all sites, ensuring systems are consistently applied.
Lead site and third-party audits, maintaining accreditation to industry and customer standards.
Ensure compliance with customer requirements, legal obligations, and regulatory developments.
Oversee technical documentation, product specifications, and supplier assurance.
Identify and manage technical risks, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Work closely with operations, quality, and supply chain to drive sustainable improvements.
Line manage and develop technical teams, promoting knowledge sharing and best practice.
Monitor business processes, KPIs, and technical performance to ensure continuous improvement.About You
You should have a proven track record in technical or quality assurance leadership within the food manufacturing industry, and be able to offer:
A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
At least 5 years’ line management experience, with a focus on coaching and team development.
Strong knowledge of BRCGS, SQMS, HACCP, and other relevant food legislation.
Hands-on experience leading customer and third-party audits.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
A strong understanding of food safety risk management and quality systems.Benefits
