Maintenance Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical Bias) Location: Preston / Blackpool, Lancashire Salary: £40,000 per annum Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 16:30 (No Evenings, No weekends) A leading food manufacturing business is looking to recruit a skilled Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the ongoing performance and reliability of its modern production facility. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring plant and machinery operate at optimum efficiency. Youll respond promptly to breakdowns, carry out planned maintenance, and help deliver high levels of uptime to support production targets and overall business performance. This position would suit a proactive and resourceful engineer who is comfortable working independently and confident in making decisions. Youll benefit from a supportive management team and an initial onboarding period working alongside an experienced engineer to help you become familiar with the equipment and processes. Engineers from FMCG or food manufacturing backgrounds are encouraged to apply, although candidates from other sectors such as automotive, aerospace, packaging, pharmaceuticals, or chemicals will also be considered. Typical Equipment Includes: Tray sealers, check weighers, mixers, depositors, case erectors, labellers, metal detectors, flow wrappers, conveyors, packaging machinery, robotic pick-and-place systems, thermoformers, extruders, vacuum sealers, baggers, silos, pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, mechanical transmissions, drive belts, chains, compressors, pumps, and control circuits. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance (electrical and mechanical) Schedule and manage preventative maintenance activities Record all maintenance work using a CMMS system Respond to and resolve time-critical breakdowns in a fast-paced production environment Diagnose faults across electrical and mechanical systems, identifying root causes Perform PLC fault finding Support small CAPEX projects, including new equipment installation and automation Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and efficiency Deliver against key KPIs including downtime, PPM completion, quality, and cost Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure availability of spare parts Work in line with BRC, GMP, retailer, and internal company standards Escalate critical issues to the appropriate department leads Requirements Proven maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or process environment Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge Apprentice-trained or degree-qualified in an engineering discipline ONC / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering Reference: 3570
