We communicate with millions of people through our channels, as well as driving engagement and fostering a sense of pride in the University with our staff and students.
You will be sitting right at the heart of our communications operation, which is bursting with amazing stories, people, and places. It’s a storyteller’s dream.
You will use your expertise to help raise awareness of what we do and why it matters though our channels and grow engagement with our audiences, fostering a sense of pride in our community, and showcasing our world-leading educators and researchers.

About You
You will have extensive knowledge of media relations, digital engagement, and internal communications – along with other marketing channels.
You understand how to maximise opportunities and prioritise resources effectively.
You have managed teams and empower your people, offering support, guidance and help along the way, building skills and capabilities.
You are a cool head in a crisis and know what needs to be done, and how to navigate your way through a difficult situation.
Working in shades of grey is something you’re comfortable with, where priorities can change fast, and you’ll need to be able to juggle competing demands effectively.
You will be a pragmatist, who is used to working in complex, devolved environments, and building internal networks.
You’re a natural storyteller with a passion for communications, who understands and values data and insights.
And a sense of humour is essential too!

About the Department
The Corporate Communications department leads on media relations, social media, employee engagement and reputation management for UK and international audiences.
We’re a dynamic team of 18 communications professionals working together to deliver the University high quality advice and guidance at speed in a strategic, integrated, and dynamic way. We work with internal and external stakeholders to shape and lead communications in a planned, co-ordinated and collaborative way, joining up channels, teams and workstreams across the University.
Much of our work involves balancing day-to-day service demands with longer term strategic work, working across varied projects and timescales with multiple stakeholders.
