Spider is advertising on behalf of an optician and hearing store that is looking for two Optical Assistant Apprentices to begin an exciting journey into the world of optics. The apprenticeship is based in the centre of Norwich, Norfolk, at Longwater Retail Park, Norwich.
Role Summary
By completing your 15‑18 month apprenticeship you will achieve an Optical Assistant Level 3 qualification and open doors to numerous career advancement opportunities. You will demonstrate strong communication and listening skills, deliver a high quality of service and confidently discuss and fully understand optical products and services.
Key Duties
* Welcoming customers into the store with enthusiasm and professionalism.
* Booking eye tests and ensuring a smooth process for customers.
* Conducting pre‑screening for customers to ensure they receive the best possible care.
* Offering stylish advice and recommendations to match frames with individual tastes.
* Measuring frames and lenses to ensure a perfect fit and vision.
* Handling phone calls with care, providing information and support to our customers.
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths and English Grade 9‑4 (A*‑C).
* Residency requirement: having lived in the EU for three years or more with the right to work in the UK.
* Must live within Norwich to commute to work on weekends and bank holidays.
* No previous work experience in the optical sector.
Benefits
* Competitive Salary: Starting from £7.55 an hour (National Apprenticeship Wage depending on age).
* Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days across 7 days, shifts 08:15‑16:45 and 08:30‑17:00.
* Holiday: 28 days including bank holidays.
