Salary Apprentice Grade – 1st year: 80% of London living wage (£22,224 pa); 2nd year: 100% of London living wage (£27,781 pa).
Term: Full‑time, 2‑year fixed‑term appointment.
Location: Wandsworth, London.
Working arrangement: Hybrid working with up to three days in office per week.
About the Role
As a Project Officer Apprentice you will play a crucial role in supporting various project teams to deliver exciting service improvements and transformations across libraries, arts, leisure centres, open spaces and parks. Over 24 months you will work across several placements, taking ownership of project delivery, managing risks, engaging stakeholders, and helping the organisation scope, design and implement meaningful changes and improvements. You will also have the opportunity to study for a professional project management qualification (APM Level 4) while gaining hands‑on experience.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge and Interest – Passion for local government, especially culture and leisure services such as libraries, parks and leisure centres. Understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these services and an interest in a career in project management.
Experience – Ideally some work or volunteering experience related to delivering projects in the community, particularly within the public sector, demonstrating enthusiasm and potential for success in local government project management.
Skills – Strong customer‑service ethos, effective communication, time‑ and people‑management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint) is required.
