SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £83 - £100 per day
GSL Education is looking to appoint a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistants to join the support team of a Client Secondary School located in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide tailored support to students with a wide range of additional learning needs and help them thrive both academically and personally.
About the School:
With an emphasis on SEN children, this school is for secondary aged students, aged from 11 - 19 years which aims to provide SEN students and staff with exceptional standards of care and education.
Every student at the School has a learning disability, and some of them also require extra special education services due to physical or sensory needs.
The school provides its students with a customized, individualized curriculum that is in line with their needs and goals and closely related to the outcomes listed in each child's Education, Health, and Care Plan.
The school's comprehensive curriculum provides teachers with a list of options of accessible and relevant topics to help students develop what is relevant to them and their identified EHCP broad areas of need.
The curriculums at the school have been created after four years of intensive research into SEND as well as visits, research, and interactions with exceptional settings.
One of the main goals of the school is to prepare students for adulthood.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students within the classroom environment.
Collaborate with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
Work alongside teaching staff to assist in lesson delivery.
Implement strategies to support the student's emotional, social, and academic development.
Promote independence while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
Right to work in the UK.
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEN.
Previous experience in an SEN support role, preferably within a school setting.
Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
