About the Role

Key Responsibilities
1. Program, set, and operate a range of CNC machine tools, including multi-axis machining centres (3 to 6 axis) and CNC turning machines.
2. Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings and technical documentation.
3. Select and optimise tooling and cutting strategies, working closely with tooling suppliers and the engineering team.
4. Prove out and validate machining programs to ensure product conformance.
5. Contribute to the development and refinement of machining processes and tooling/fixture designs.
6. Diagnose and resolve machining issues; lead or support corrective action plans.
7. Mentor and support junior team members and apprentices in best practices.
8. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across machining processes and procedures.
9. Ensure effective prioritisation of workload to meet project timelines and maximise machine utilisation.
10. Maintain high-quality standards in line with internal and customer expectations.
11. Comply with housekeeping (5S/6S), health & safety, manual handling, and CoSHH regulations.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
12. Demonstrable experience in a precision CNC machining environment.
13. Strong hands-on milling experience is essential.
14. Turning experience is highly desirable.
15. Proficient in programming/post-processing using Fanuc, Siemens, and Heidenhain control languages.
16. Understanding of CAD/CAM software (., EdgeCAM, MasterCAM, Fusion 360, .
17. Skilled in multi-axis machining methods (3 to 5 axis).
18. Sound knowledge of inspection techniques and use of precision measuring equipment.
19. Confident in reading and working from detailed technical drawings and process documentation.
20. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently from concept to completion.
21. Familiarity with general workshop practices and manufacturing operations.
22. Proficient in MS Office and MRP/ERP systems.
23. Strong communication and reporting skills.
