Salaried GP – Gosforth (NHS Newcastle Upon Tyne)

Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly and forward‑thinking practice in the heart of Gosforth. The surgery serves a patient population of around 13,500 and has operated a total triage system using SystmConnect since February 2024 to ensure efficient, patient‑centred access to care. You will benefit from regular clinical meetings and mentorship. Main Duties
* In accordance with the practice timetable, undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Take part in day‑time on‑call sessions weekly.

Key Responsibilities
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans in line with current practice disease‑management protocols.
* Providing counselling and health education.
* Ensuring appropriate follow‑up of patients.
* Admitting or discharging patients and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Collecting data for audit purposes.
* Issuing computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice formulary.
* Working with and supporting other primary health care team members.
* Promoting the application of standards and codes of practice set by the Royal College of General Practice, GMC, Department of Health and local NHS Trust.
* Leading the practice to achieve agreed QOF and other key performance indicators.
* Taking lead responsibility for allocated targets and services.
Qualifications
Essential
* Qualified GP
* GMC Full registration
* Vocational Training Certificate or Equivalent
* MRCGP
* Membership of recognised defence union
* Currently on performers list
* No past history of removal from performers list for a detrimental reason
* Demonstrable commitment to professional development
* Understanding of evidence‑based practice and clinical effectiveness
* Evidence of recent self‑directed learning
* Experience of Microsoft Office applications
* Experience of GP Clinical IT systems
* Excellent communication skills – oral and written
