Job Summary
The post-holder must be a senior clinical fellow or (ST5+) with interests, clinical skills and knowledge in high-risk obstetrics and gynaecology. The post holds a 1A on-call supplement at 50% and includes London Weighting. There will be the opportunity for the successful applicant to undertake ATSMs /SITMS if they still need to start this and support the CESR application. The role will include a full day of a specialist interest session in either Obstetrics or Gynaecology dependent on the doctor's preference. The successful applicant must be able to participate in the O&G doctor’s on-call rota as a senior registrar and provide support to more junior doctors on the rota. The division will undertake to support the successful applicant through leadership programmes via the Barts Health Education Academy. The successful applicant will facilitate multi-disciplinary teaching to junior doctors and midwifery staff, liaise with the Education Team regarding learning from incidents, and participate in multi-disciplinary training programmes such as PROMPT with the Education Lead and lead for fetal monitoring.

On-call and Duties
The post-holder will participate in the on-call rota as a senior registrar. The rota details include one in ten on-call shifts at the senior registrar level on a 3-tier rota (two SHOs, a Junior registrar and a Senior registrar). The onsite obstetric consultant covers The Royal London Hospital from 08:00–22:00. There is a separate Gynaecology Consultant on call who is onsite from 08:00–17:00 and off-site from 17:00–08:00.

Job Responsibilities
We have a busy gynaecology department with significant activity: emergency admissions, outpatient appointments, and elective procedures. We provide care for early pregnancy problems, miscarriage management (including expectant, conservative, medical and surgical approaches), and ectopic pregnancy management. We offer Manual Vacuum Aspiration and minimal access procedures, and open gynaecology surgery for benign disease. Since 2015 we have been an accredited Endometriosis centre and provide tertiary urogynaecology services in collaboration with Colorectal colleagues. We also treat complex referrals from two other gynaecology units in Barts Health.
