As part of our continued support to our client in the space industry we are looking for an Electrical Technician with experience with Manufacturing Assembly, Integration & Test (MAIT).
The Electrical technician will be working alongside subject matter experts in a dynamic and growth focused Space business. The role will require candidates to support in the preparation of electrical components which meet high quality standards in line with production procedures and processes.
Working as part of the MAIT team on spacecraft critical components to produce components which conform to the quality requirements, delivered to schedule IAW the production plan. Although not essential specific experience in RF and optical cable routing and assembly, as well as clean room experience are highly sought after this role.
The roles will be based at our customer's facility in Stevenage. We are able to offer these roles on a permanent or contract (Inside IR35) basis. The salary/rate is negotiable based on experience, seniority, etc. The role will require working on a shift basis (early and late) for which a premium will be paid.
Responsibilities
The Electrical MAIT Engineer will perform, but is not limited to the following type of activities centred on provision of satellite/satellite payloads:
Ability to read and work to shop floor documents such as routings, drawings, work instructions and BOMs
Responsible for working to and complying with ESA standards, processes and H&S requirements
Work to the required process standard as dictated by the relevant area skills matrix
Responsible for completion of paperwork relating to operations undertaken, inc. traceability
Online harness routing, crimping and connector population in line with space industry standards
Pre installation electrical checks
Inspection capabilities to check crimps and harness routing
Mechanical and electrical Integration of equipment/hardware
Working on space hardware
Work within a flexible motivated teamworking to tight schedules and meeting critical deadlines
Play an active part in continuous improvement plans
Candidates may be asked to temporary follow equipment to other UK sites and may be given opportunities to work abroad
Qualifications
ESA Qualified Electrical Technician is preferred however other electrical qualification will be considered
Time served apprentice is desirable but not essential
Essential skills
Knowledge required of crimping, splicing, wiring, harness manufacture, harness forming, thermal installation, all to ESA Electrical standards
Familiarity and ability to follow shop documentation such as bill of material, drawings, work instructions, processes and procedures
Pre installation electrical checks
Inspection capabilities to check crimps and harness routing
Must have good electrical knowledge and technical understanding

What do I need before I apply
Candidates must have electrical experience post any training period
Experience working in a high-quality production environment relating to electrical assembly
Experience working in a clean-room environment including FOD/ESD practice
