Overview

The CYP Eating Disorders Day Hospital Service is currently mobilising. This specialist provision delivers intensive, evidence-based care to children & young people experiencing moderate to severe eating disorders. This innovative service aims to bridge the gap between inpatient and community care, offering a safe and structured alternative to Tier 4 admission & facilitating earlier discharge from hospital settings.

Operating through a MDT working collaboratively to provide holistic, person-centred care, each professional brings their expertise to support physical health monitoring, nutritional rehabilitation, psychosocial interventions & occupational engagement, all tailored to the unique needs of each young person & their family.

* In-reach and Outreach support to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions & reduce relapse.
* Intensive day hospital interventions focused on recovery, risk management, & re-engagement with daily life.
* Meal support and psychoeducation for young people & their families, promoting sustainable recovery at home.
* Multidisciplinary care planning and supervision, ensuring continuity & quality of care across settings.
* Training and consultation to professionals and carers, enhancing system-wide understanding and support for eating disorders.


Main duties of the job

* To work as a psychologist within the CYP Eating Disorders Day Hospital & EDISH Team working with children & young people who require highly specialist psychological input.
* To work as part of a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team providing highly specialist psychological assessments, formulation advice & consultation to young people & their families who are eligible for the day hospital.
* To provide evidence-based advice & support around treatment interventions.
* To provide specialist clinical supervision, psychological advice & training to colleagues & across relevant agencies as required.
* To offer advice & consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues & to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines & the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.
* To represent the team at a senior level within the wider care group & Trust organisational meetings.
* To utilise information from a broad range of structured psychometric & semi-structured clinical methods.
* To interpret & integrate highly complex data from a variety of sources including psychological & neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct & indirect structured observations, semi-structured interviews & guided clinical inquiry methods with clients, family members & others involved in the client's care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

* It is a condition of employment that the post-holder is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is eligible for registration as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist.
* Undergraduate degree (preferably relevant to psychological therapy).
* Current registration/accreditation with appropriate body with current practising certificate.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by relevant professional body.

Experience

* Experience of working with CYP with Eating Disorders, or eating difficulties
* Experience of working as a qualified psychologist with young people with mental health problems; including assessment and clinical interventions for a wide range of presenting problems
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and intervention within a multidisciplinary care plan.

Skills

* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management and their application within community settings.
* Up to date knowledge of best practice in the delivery of high quality psychological services and trauma informed care for young people.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within clinical psychology.

Desirable

* Post-doctoral training in specialised areas of psychological practice (e.g., DBT, FT-AN, NVR)
* Experience liaising and providing clinical supervision to professional and non-professional groups
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by professional bodies
