This Field Engineer will report to the Lead Field Engineer and will work within Network Operations based in our Kings Kynn office. You will be a permanent employee and work as part of a team within the Eastern Region geographical area. Additionally, you will support Capital Programme, Connections, and Faults within the area. This includes liaison with customers, network operations and control, networks planning, management of field staff, and management of contractors.


Principal Accountabilities:

1. Ensure safety management throughout all responsibilities.
2. Responsible for the delivery of all maintenance, construction, and fault works to time, cost, and quality.
3. Ensure staff comply with all procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
4. Daily planning, coordination, and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilization of resources.
5. Communicate with HV/LV control - submission of HV/LV switching log, complete HV/LV network operations in accordance with distribution safety rules and procedures.
6. Ensure that the Asset Database - SAP is updated with completed work by the system.
7. Support and provide technical support to field staff.
8. Manage and resolve any contract actual issues, with the support of Contract Management.
9. Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of project work.
10. Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and rectify any quality issues identified.
11. Communicate with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations wherever possible.
12. Be prepared to assist other sections e.g. organizational changes, system emergencies as determined by your experience.
13. Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (Standby).


Nature and Scope:

You will play an important role in the team to manage the delivery of all Maintenance, Capital Programme, Connections, and Faults work within a geographical area. Together with the scheduling team, Work Planner, Field Staff Supervisor, and Field Staff, you will deliver an excellent service to the customer, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards. All new employees appointed to the Field Engineer roles within Network Operations will include a contractual requirement to undertake standby for a minimum period of 20 years, or up to the age of 55, whichever comes first.

Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control, and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e., public, visitors, and employees of other organizations. This includes briefing individuals working for them and ensuring there is the necessary understanding, competence, and application of requirements to work safely and without harming the environment. Employees will ensure they understand the health and safety risks involved in their work activities and their responsibility to apply the controls needed to manage those risks to acceptable levels. Similarly, where work activities can have an adverse impact upon the environment, and where there are legal requirements, employees will understand those impacts and the controls they must ensure are applied. Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to the maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.


Salary and Requirements:

You will attract a salary of £51,245 - £76,229 per annum and a bonus of 3%. If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.


Minimum Requirements:

* Band F (£51,245) = LV Field Engineer / Trainee Engineer
* Band E (£61,723) = 11k SAP (with ONC)
* Band D (£76,229) = 33kv SAP (with HNC)
* LV authorization on the EPN network
* IT literate including MRS, SAP, etc.
* Current valid driving license


Desirable Qualifications:

* ONC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
* NRSWA (City & Guilds) Supervisors certificate
* IOSH Managing Safely certificate
* Familiarity with MS Excel spreadsheets
* Organizational Awareness

* Prioritization/Scheduling experience
