Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) – Interim Cover

We are currently supporting a fantastic specialist school in Lincolnshire who are seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join them on an interim basis until the end of the academic year.
This is a unique opportunity to join a warm, well‑established special school that supports pupils aged 2–19 years, all with a diverse range of additional and complex special educational needs.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a key role within the school’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), supporting and leading on all aspects of safeguarding across the setting. While this is not a qualified teaching position, the school are looking for someone with strong safeguarding knowledge, confidence in decision‑making, and the ability to work closely with senior staff to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead
* Manage safeguarding concerns and referrals in line with statutory guidance
* Work closely with SLT to promote a strong safeguarding culture
* Liaise with external agencies including social care and police where required
* Ensure all safeguarding records and processes are accurate and compliant
* Support staff with safeguarding advice and best practice
Requirements
* Previous DSL or safeguarding leadership experience (essential)
* Completed advanced safeguarding training, updated within the last 2 years
* Strong working knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE)
* Experience working within education or specialist/complex needs settings
* Ability to confidently operate as part of SLT
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
