An opportunity has arisen for a Manual Turner to join their team.THE ROLEOperating a conventional turning machine (lathe) and conventional borer (webster and bennet) to produce high precision parts to customer specificationsAssisting with final fitting of the componentsCorrectly positioning the component into the machine, with the assistance of lifting equipment if necessaryIdentifying the operations which will machine (cut) the component to the required sizeCarrying out the machining in accordance to the components route card and technical drawingTo check your own quality as you work, measuring first-offs before proceeding with any additional machining with hand measuring equipment such as venires and micrometersResponsible for the housekeeping within your own work areaTo follow instructions as per company procedure, practises and policiesTo ensure all work/tasks/procedures/documentation meet the requirements of the company’s Quality Systems & proceduresTo ensure all work meets the requirements of Health & Safety systems & proceduresTHE PERSONEducated to Engineering Apprentice level or equivalentIdeally with a minimum of 3 years post experience working in the same/similar environmentAn ability to read, interpret and communicate technical drawingsManual Handling Training and overhead crane experienceGood written and oral skillsExperienced within the metal cutting or manufacturing industryMust have proven team-working skillsPlanning and organisational skills are also required to ensure departmental and business objectives and deadlines are met whilst ensuring the integrity of the CompanyExcellent written and verbal skills are required to convey issues to your management and employees alikePC literate: Expert knowledge of spreadsheets and reporting computer systems is essential.
