About the Role
As a Social Worker at Gloucester Health Service you’ll play a key role in supporting patients and their families through high‑quality assessment, treatment and case coordination. You’ll work with confidence and autonomy, using your professional judgement to guide care that is evidence‑based and aligned with legal, ethical and organisational standards. Collaboration is at the heart of this role; you’ll partner with clients, families and the multidisciplinary team to deliver person‑centred, culturally sensitive interventions. You’ll provide guidance and reassurance on complex cases, and seek opportunities to improve clinical practice and outcomes in a supportive team environment.
Where you'll be working
Gloucester Health Service is located on Biripi Country and is part of the Rural and Regional Health Service within Hunter New England Local Health District. The facility includes Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital (GSMH) with a 14‑bed general ward and a 3‑bed emergency department, an operating theatre, a community health centre and allied health services. The successful applicant will be based within this centre.
About you
* Self‑motivated, confident and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver compassionate, person‑centred care.
* Strong work ethic, time management and an ability to engage effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
* Demonstrated commitment to Closing the Gap and improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Experience with aged care and NDIS systems or a willingness to develop understanding in these areas.
* Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the processes involved with the Guardianship Tribunal.
* Builds meaningful connections with clients and colleagues while maintaining professional integrity and ethical boundaries.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent, with eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW).
