Legal Reporter Position
If you have been called to the bar or are a qualified solicitor and are looking for a change of pace, you might be interested in becoming a valued law reporter. Our client, a prestigious legal publisher with an international readership, is seeking a law reporter to attend hearings and record notes on significant judgments, summaries, and rulings.
You will need to take initiative and liaise confidently with management on matters such as case publication decisions and resource allocation. Responsibilities include proofreading, editing, and formatting judgments into the in-house style. You will communicate regularly with judges and court staff to obtain approval for publishing your reports.
Essential skills include exceptional written and communication abilities, strong organizational skills, and the capacity to manage your time effectively, meet deadlines, handle administration, and archive cases. A comprehensive understanding of legal judgments and the ability to communicate them concisely in writing are required. Only candidates who are qualified solicitors or have been called to the bar (pupillage not essential) will be considered.
The role offers flexibility to fulfill duties, including court attendance where necessary. Excellent pension arrangements are provided.
This opportunity is ideal for those called to the bar exploring alternative careers or not currently seeking pupillage.
McKinlay Law aims to contact all successful candidates within 24 hours. Due to high application volumes, we may not respond individually to all candidates. If you do not hear from us within 24 hours, your application has been unsuccessful, and your details will not be retained.
