This exclusive, 50 cover, flagship restaurant enables guests to enjoy the highest quality cuisine complemented by unparalleled service. Awarded their first Michelin Star in 2017, Chef Steve Smith offers a technically complex, yet engaging menu with classical themes and flavours staying true to themselves. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commis Sommelier.
In the role of Commis Sommelier, you will be expected to work effectively as part of a team providing support to the Sommelier and Head Sommelier with all aspects of the wine service in the restaurant.
Role Responsibility
Lots to do, but lots of fun
The Commis Sommelier will be responsible for;
1. Ensuring all areas are properly stocked and set up ready for service.
2. Ensuring an effective wine and beverage service in the restaurant at all times
3. Full knowledge of the wine list in order to assist guest with their choices, being able to make appropriate recommendations where necessary.
4. Being aware of all bookings and any special guest requirements
5. Help run any wine tasting sessions as required by the team
6. Resolving any guest queries relating to wine and drink service
7. Ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of all wine service equipment
8. Help the Head Sommelier to carry out any wine training as required by front of house team members
The Ideal Candidate
Are you right for us?
Our successful Sommelier will;
9. Be fully knowledgeable of the menus, recipes and all beverage offerings in the Latymer restaurant
10. Have a basic understanding of cost control.
11. Be aware of and to adhere to company procedures relating to beverage SOP’s
12. Previous experience as a sommelier/ waiter in a Fine Dining restaurant would be preferable
13. A WSET qualification would be desirable but not essential
