LOCATION: Newcastle / London / Salford / Glasgow / Cardiff - Hybrid, 1 day per week in the office
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join a team at the forefront of one of the most exciting, far reaching and technically complex fields in the BBC - Recommendations. You'll be joining a recommendation capability team whose job is to build machine learning powered recommender systems, that combined, serve millions of recommendations every hour. We help make the BBC's digital services feel immersive and personalised, from iPlayer to Sport.

Deliver key components to complex recommender systems that provide recommendations across all the BBC's digital products

Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Expertise designing, developing and supporting data focused applications using Python
Expertise in modern development tools and practices (CI/CD, DevOps, Pair Programming, TDD)
Experience working in AWS (or other cloud platforms) to develop applications and support their operation
Experience in, or an interest in developing expertise in AI/ML and related tooling, such as PyTorch, scikit-learn or tensorflow
Keen to learn new skills with an interest in learning about recommender systems
Desired But Not Required
Experience with AWS SageMaker
Experience with big data processing via Apache Spark
Experience working with other disciplines in cross functional teams
