Economy and Climate Support Officer – Cambridge

We are seeking a proactive and organized professional to join our Inclusive Economy and Climate team. This is a vital role designed to champion and support the delivery of net‑zero goals alongside sustainable and inclusive economic development within Cambridge. Working within the Economy and Place group, you will provide essential project coordination and administrative support for the team. You will play a key part in supporting policy and partnership development, as well as managing engagement and communications with both internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

* Support research and policy development through evidence gathering, analysis, and drafting reports and briefings.
* Manage team data systems, ensuring high accuracy in records, spreadsheets, and CRM systems to inform strategic decision‑making.
* Provide project coordination for climate change and inclusive economic development workstreams.
* Act as the initial point of contact for enquiries, ensuring requests are logged, allocated, and resolved within corporate standards.
* Support managers with budgeting: raise purchase orders and reconcile monthly procurement card purchases.
* Collaborate with Communications to create and publish engaging content across social media, websites, and e‑newsletters.
* Assist in organising and delivering stakeholder events, consultations, and partnership meetings.


Qualifications and Experience

* Essential experience in partnership working and supporting projects within a busy office environment.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to write accurately for different audiences and respond effectively to stakeholders.
* Proficiency in IT and systems, specifically spreadsheets, databases, and CRM platforms.
* Analytical skills, including data gathering and report writing.

* Flexibility to occasionally work outside core hours to support planned engagement activities.
* Experience in local government and/or economic development or climate change; knowledge of Cambridge's economic and social landscape is desirable.
* Travel around the City and other locations as required; Full UK driving licence desirable.

Hours and Working Patterns

This is a full‑time role of 37 hours per week. Working pattern is Monday – Friday. The position is permanent, located at Mandela House, Cambridge, with agile hybrid working – primarily on site in Cambridge, at other offices, or from home, depending on the employee's circumstances.


Salary

£32,597 – £36,363 per annum (City Pay Band 4), pro rata for part time.
