Payroll Manager
Hours: 8.30am 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Gillingham office (with occasional travel to subsidiaries as required)
Salary Range: Up to £50,000, depending on experience

Were looking for an experienced and proactive Payroll Manager to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function at Senseco.
This is a key role within our Finance team, responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across weekly and monthly cycles. You'll lead a small payroll team, act as a trusted subject-matter expert, and play an important part in supporting the business as it continues to grow.

What you will be doing
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
• Owning the full end-to-end payroll process across weekly and monthly payrolls
• Leading, supporting, and developing the payroll team, providing day-to-day guidance and workload oversight
• Managing payroll queries and resolving discrepancies accurately and professionally
• Ensuring compliance with UK tax, pension, and employment legislation
• Maintaining accurate payroll records and managing statutory reporting
• Producing payroll reports, insights, and analysis for senior management
• Supporting internal and external audits and ensuring payroll is audit-ready
• Reviewing and improving payroll processes, systems, and controls
• Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and best practice
Who we are looking for
Were looking for someone who combines strong payroll expertise with a calm, organised approach and a genuine interest in leading others.
You'll ideally bring:
• Proven experience managing high-volume weekly and monthly payrolls
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll rules, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements
• Experience managing or supporting the development of others
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence using payroll systems
• The ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively
• A proactive, improvement-focused mindset
• CIPP qualification (Level 5 preferred) or equivalent experience
