What you will be doing

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Owning the full end-to-end payroll process across weekly and monthly payrolls

• Leading, supporting, and developing the payroll team, providing day-to-day guidance and workload oversight

• Managing payroll queries and resolving discrepancies accurately and professionally

• Ensuring compliance with UK tax, pension, and employment legislation

• Maintaining accurate payroll records and managing statutory reporting

• Producing payroll reports, insights, and analysis for senior management

• Supporting internal and external audits and ensuring payroll is audit-ready

• Reviewing and improving payroll processes, systems, and controls

• Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and best practice

Who we are looking for

• Strong knowledge of UK payroll rules, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements

• Experience managing or supporting the development of others

• Advanced Excel skills and confidence using payroll systems

• The ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively

• A proactive, improvement-focused mindset

• CIPP qualification (Level 5 preferred) or equivalent experience

You don't need to tick every box - if you have solid payroll experience and are keen to develop further, wed still love to hear from you.
