Senior Electrical Design Engineer Location: Rochester Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 DOE An established building services consultancy in Rochester is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a proven track record in the residential sector to take ownership of projects, lead design delivery, and contribute to the development of innovative, efficient, and sustainable electrical building services solutions. Key Responsibilities: Lead the electrical design process on residential building services projects from concept through to completion. Produce detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for LV distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and other electrical systems. Manage project delivery, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with current regulations and standards. Coordinate closely with mechanical engineers, architects, and other design professionals to achieve integrated and buildable solutions. Undertake site visits, surveys, and inspections to support design development and installation reviews. Support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring where appropriate. Liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver exceptional service. What we’re looking for: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within the building services industry. Proven experience delivering residential projects (e.g. apartment blocks, housing developments, or mixed-use schemes). Strong understanding of current UK Building Regulations, IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and relevant design standards. Proficient in using design and calculation software such as AutoCAD, Amtech, and Dialux/Relux. Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and project stakeholders. Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision. Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent). Working towards or already achieved professional registration (IEng or CEng) with a recognised engineering institution is desirable.Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
